About the Opportunity NQDVRS is looking for a full-time

Specialist Domestic and Family Violence Advocate

based in

Mount Isa, QLD.

This role reports to the Team Leader and involves providing specialist DFV support, including risk assessments, safety planning, case-management, and referrals. You will collaborate with local agencies to deliver innovative responses to DFV, contributing to our mission of eliminating domestic and family violence.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing trauma-informed crisis response, including risk and needs assessments and safety planning

Delivering services grounded in a feminist analysis of the gendered nature of DFV

Coordinating emergency accommodation and home safety upgrades

Liaising with internal colleagues and external organisations to ensure holistic support

Supporting clients in navigating court processes and obtaining protection orders

Participating in community education, awareness activities, and advocacy

About You To qualify, you will need a

tertiary qualification

in a relevant human services discipline and/or a minimum of

two years of professional experience

in a related field. A deep understanding of First Nations cultures and the impact of intergenerational trauma is essential.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

Knowledge of current DFV legislation and best practices

Strong decision-making and case management skills

Ability to communicate complex information sensitively and effectively

Experience working in a culturally competent manner with First Nations peoples

High competency with technology and record-keeping systems

A current QLD C Class Driver’s License and Working with Children Check (Blue Card) is essential

per hour under the SCHADS Award Level 4.1 classification
